World Orphan Drug Congress 2026

  • RAI Convention Center 24 Europaplein Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, 1078 GZ Netherlands (map)

Verpora’s Head of Payers, Omar Ali, will return to the World Orphan Drug Congress Europe 2026 as a keynote speaker, joining global leaders in rare disease, market access, pricing, reimbursement, and policy to explore the evolving challenges facing orphan medicines and advanced therapies.

Now in its 17th year, the World Orphan Drug Congress Europe remains one of the largest international meetings dedicated to orphan drugs and rare diseases. Co-located with the Cell & Gene Therapy Congress, the event brings together stakeholders from across the healthcare ecosystem to address the scientific, commercial, and policy developments shaping the future of patient access.

KEYNOTE / DAY THREE Tuesday 28 October 2026, 14:30

Will the Bubble Burst on Rare Disease? Where JCA Collides with MFN and the Impact on Pricing & Access for Orphan Drugs

Innovation in rare disease and orphan medicines continues at an unprecedented pace, but growing budget pressures, evolving assessment frameworks, and changing payer expectations are challenging the sustainability of existing access models.

Drawing on perspectives from Verpora’s global payer network, Omar Ali examines how governments and payers are redefining value, affordability, and reimbursement for high-cost therapies. Rather than focusing solely on the price of individual medicines, the discussion explores the cumulative budget impact of expanding rare disease pipelines and the implications for future healthcare funding, pricing strategy, and patient access.
