Verpora’s Head of Payers, Omar Ali, will be speaking on Day Three of the World Orphan Drug Congress Europe 2025, taking place in Amsterdam.
Omar’s session, “Will the bubble burst on rare disease and orphan drugs? Paying for innovation and access” explores the growing tension between soaring innovation in rare disease treatments and the sustainability of current pricing and access models. Drawing on payer perspectives from over 30 global markets, Omar will explore the shifting thresholds of value, affordability, and payer tolerance—a ubiquitous payer concern being not the individual high cost of such therapies, but the accumulative budget impact which threatens the fabric of the healthcare ecosystem to deliver care to patients.
Now in its 16th year, the World Orphan Drug Congress Europe is the largest and most established global meeting focused on orphan drugs and rare diseases. Co-located with the Cell & Gene Therapy Congress, the event brings together leaders from across the full value chain—R&D, market access, policy, pricing, and reimbursement.
